Acupuncture can help you get rid of pain from an old injury

Is an old injury still causing you pain?  Acupuncture can help.

Acupuncture needles can help relax tension in connective tissue.  When acupuncture needles are inserted and manipulated, connective tissue winds around the needles.  This causes the tissue to stretch and change shape.  The tissue will remain stretched as long as the needle is in the skin and the stretch is what will cause the tissue to relax.  This causes the tissue to restructure itself, releasing collagen build up and providing more movement and less pain.  This is usually a slower process and may take multiple treatments to feel results.

Here is a great article written by Helen Langevin about how acupuncture breaks up scar tissue.

Here is a study published by the University of Vermont, Department of Neurology, which explored how acupuncture interacts with connective tissue: “Mechanical signaling through connective tissue: a mechanism for the therapeutic effect of acupuncture.”
